is a 19 bed Primary Care Critical Access Hospital certified by Medicare and Medicaid. Offering 24 hour Acute Care, Swing Bed, Emergency Care, and Respite services and staffed by a dedicated team of licensed and certified professional staff, including our physicians, nurse practitioner, nurses, technicians and therapists.

Swing Bed
Our Swing Bed program is approved by both Medicare and Medicaid and provides an option after an acute hospitalization for continued short term care directed by our medical staff, when additional skilled services are needed by patients to recover or maintain their health. Patients admitted to the Swing Bed program may come from Nelson County Health System - Hospital or are transferred back after an acute stay in a regional referral hospital, enabling these patients to receive care in their local community and be close to their home as they recover.

Restorative Therapy
Wound Care
Bladder and /or bowel training,

Respite
Respite care is temporary, in facility 24 hour care given to the elderly or disabled person. It provides relief for the family or caregivers in their care giving demands. Caregivers must have some reprieve from their responsibilities for vacations, shopping, emergency situations, appointments, or to meet other medical needs.
Clients on Home and Community based services, through their county social services, may qualify for assistance with the cost of respite care.

The Nelson County Health Services Foundation has been in operation/existence for 20 years!!
We are a non-profit charitable organization whose purpose is to provide financial support for equipment, services, education, and other capital projects relating to healthcare in Nelson County and the surrounding areas.
The Foundation has been responsible for raising over ONE MILLION dollars to benefit the Nelson County Health System. We are VERY proud of the fact that over $850,000 has been returned and re-invested in the Health System.
Past projects include: remodeling of Care Center rooms, roof repairs, Clinic remodeling, Van purchase, a new Chemistry Analyzer, computer Hardware & Software updating, and most recently Digital Radiology.
The Health Services Foundation is the Salvation of the Nelson County Health System. Monies raised by the Foundation will help insure the long-term availability of a progressive, high quality health system, while maintaining the caring, personal touch for which Nelson County Health System is known.
MISSION: To promote, educate, and serve as the philanthropic resource to improve the health status of the people served by the Nelson County Health System.
